What I’m looking for
I need someone with a lot of energy, who is engaging, enjoys meeting new people and good at juggling multiple tasks. If you struggle to get out of the bed in the morning, and looking for a 9-5 (with an hour for lunch), then this job is not for you. With this role, and recruitment in general, you get out, what you put in. If you’re prepared to ring that elusive candidate from home, at 8pm, or reply to a Hiring Manager on a Saturday night whilst out at dinner, then you will reap the rewards, and earn more than your friends…
Ideally, you will have some experience of a sales-focused environment, though it’s not a necessity, and a degree is great, but only if backed up with ‘common-sense’. There are no arduous training programmes here at i-Gem, you’ll be in at the deep end, on the phone from day one, and out into Canary Wharf/City, accompanying a senior consultant. If you are someone that wants to sit at a desk all day, then again, this job is not for you.
If you’re keen to earn lots of money, through working hard, taking clients out after work, making those 8pm candidate calls and getting in the office early, then get in touch. In addition to the nice commission that can be made, you’ll get looked after; when it’s too hot, we’ll leave the office and go to the pub, if we have a good week, then it’s lunch on me, and our awesome Xmas do at the darts is now an annual fixture.
i-Gem was founded by myself, Myke, in April 2016. Initially being based out of an office in Twickenham, before moving to our current location, Sandycombe Road in Richmond, there are currently 3 of us, and we’re looking to grow. Although predominantly focused on IT professionals into Investment Banking, we’ve partnered with a couple of great consultancies, a pharmaceutical company, a world-leading travel brand, a Hedge Fund and a few more.
We’re pretty keen on client entertainment, and regularly visit major sporting events such as England Internationals at Twickenham, Test Matches at Lord’s, Royal Ascot, as well as the various high-end steak houses in London, such as Goodman’s and Hawksmoor.
Our office is a brand-new build, with space to host up to 10 consultants, and just a short walk from Kew Gardens train station, which is on both the District and Overground lines. For those that drive, a parking permit can be provided for off-street parking, and we also have a shower for anyone that wants to exercise at lunchtime. There is also the occasional distraction from my two young daughters, who like to come and visit, to draw on the whiteboards and swing on the chairs…
What you really want to know- £££
For a good recruiter, commission will form the majority of your pay packet, but it may take a few
months to see that coming through. Commission is paid quarterly, and the exact breakdown can be
explained in more detail at interview stage.
For a starting base salary, we’re looking at £18-22k, with targets and incentives in parallel, to help
that rise as quickly as possible. Again, to be discussed in more detail at interview stage.
For the 1st full year, OTE is roughly £35-45k, with an expectation for that to rise by 50-70% in year 2,
depending on performance. Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but those agencies that tell you OTE for
year 1 is £100k, they are lying…
